Jewelry From Kenya

silver bracelet
This bracelet is supposedly made out of Somali Silver. I bought this in a curio shop in Nairobi.

Beaded bracelet
A lady who sold me a beaded belt gave this to me. We tried even each other's shoes on.

Soapstone Mask Earring Soapstome Mask Earring Soapstone Earring with Etched Fish Soapstone Earring with Etched Flower
These earrings are made from soapstone. The soapstone is painted then the artist etches a design into the earring.

Metal Earring Metal Earring Metal Earring with Beads I bought these three pairs together. I bought them in Nairobi in a place called the Blue Kiosk. I got a deal on them - three pairs for 100 shillings. (About $1.50 at the time.) The Blue Kiosk was a group of kiosks in the parking lost of a mosque. The owners of the mosque eventually forced the vendors to move out.

Metal Earring Coconut Earring I bought this earring in Kisumu along with the next earring. the first one is made from metal and the second is made from coconut shell

Mask Earring This is the first pair of earrings I bought on a trip to Nairobi.
